WW1 medal pair – British War Medal & Victory Medal – Awarded to Private LEONARD BUSHELL of the 2/4th Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment, later the 20th Battalion the Rifle Brigade
You are looking at a British War Medal and Victory Medal awarded to LEONARD BUSHELL of the 2/4th Royal West Kent Regiment (service number 201407), who went on to serve with the 20th Battalion the Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort’s Own) (Service number 47456 & 213115).
The medals are inscribed ‘201407 PTE. L.BUSHELL. R.W.KENT.R.’
From the service numbers provided, it is likely LEONARD enlisted into the Royal West Kent Regiment no earlier than March 1917 and probably served with 2/4th Battalion who were operating in Egypt and Palestine. At some point, he was transferred to the 20th Battalion the Rifle Brigade, a home service unit which included men who had been downgraded through injury or illness and were no longer considered fit for front line combat areas.
SELLER NOTE - This medal has been subject to very basic identification and service verification only, with no extended biographical research undertaken. If further information should come to light in the future, the listing and asking price may be updated accordingly.
SELLER NOTE = Supporting documentation obtained and / or created during this research will be provided.
