He was a Leading Aircraftsman when he finished.\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThe qualifying criteria for the award of the Burma Star was service in the Burma campaign area between the 11\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e of December 1941 and the 2\u003csup\u003end\u003c\/sup\u003e of September 1945, and for RAF personnel, it is likely service was in Burma itself, or in Bengal and Assam (Eastern India), the Arakan Coast and the Bay of Bengal area, with RAF bases at Chittagong, Calcutta (Dum Dum), Dinjan, Jorhat, Imphal and Agartala.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eJEFFERY was the son of\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003eERNEST and ELLA HARRIS, and he was born at Loughborough on the 28\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e of April 1921, and he appears alongside his parents in the 1939 Register that was taken at the start of WW2, at 12 Beeches Road in Loughborough, and with his profession recorded as ‘accountants articled clerk’.
