F.ALEXANDER. A.O.C.’\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eFRANCIS was born in 1888 at Aberdeen, and at the point of enlisting into the army, he was living at 400 Romford Road in the Forest Gate area of London, and he was a boilermaker by profession.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003ePrior to WW1, he was a member of the Royal Garrison Artillery, RGA(T) (TE).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eOn the 27\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e of August 1914, within just one month of Great Britain officially joining the war, FRANCIS was enlisted into the Army Ordnance Corps at Woolwich, and according to his service record, he arrived in France on the 28\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e of October 1914, making him eligible for the 1914 Star.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eFRANCIS transferred to the Army Service Corps on the 12\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e of May 1915, and his service record provides that he was employed at the 2\u003csup\u003end\u003c\/sup\u003e Army Service Corps Repair Shop at Chantiers-de-Normandie in Rouen, a major depot and workshop facility, the Base Motor Transport Depot (N) at Calais, and the 364\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e Motor Transport (M.T.)
